Passaggio Foundation was founded in 2011 to promote vocal activities of amateurs and professionals by organizing masterclasses, concerts and courses. The Foundation strives to organise a number of them each year. The goal is to achieve a national and, when possible, international level.
Since 2009 Manuela Ochakovski is organising a workshop or masterclass annually. She is assisted by internationally renowned teachers.
In 2016 and 2017 the teachers were: Marie Angel, Hilary Summers, Alan Herdman and Manuela Ochakovski.
In april 2018 Manuela Ochakovski has invited famous opera director David Freeman for a masterclass for professionals.
Since 2009, the Passaggio Foundation has organized annual workshops and masterclasses. The instructors in 2016 and 2017 were Marie Angel, Hilary Summers, Alan Herdman, and Manuela Ochakovski. In April 2018, Manuela Ochakovski invited the renowned opera director Alan Freeman to conduct a masterclass for professionals.
Subsequent years featured Hilary Summers, Waltraud Österreicher, Roberta Alexander, and Reinild Mees; now, Rosemary Joshua is set to mentor young, talented singers during PSA’27.
Passaggio Summer Academy
Starting in 2026, the Foundation is launching a new project, the PSA (Passaggio Summer Academy), aimed at the professional development of young talent who have graduated in the Netherlands. This specific group often has limited—or virtually no—means to finance their professional development. To deliver this project, we engage guest instructors of the highest international caliber.
The project offers:
- audition training for national and international organizations, such as the Opera Studio Academy, opera studios at opera houses, international competitions, conductors, management agencies, etc.;
- career coaching;
- tailored refinement of vocal techniques;
- presentation and marketing training.
